On January 1, 2021, the fiscal-customs policy for 2021, which contains several measures to reduce cash in the economy, entered into force.
Such measures include the obligation for businesses to install, by July 1 of the following year, payment terminals of banks or payment institutions.
The economic agents must ensure the possibility of paying through the payment terminals in the subdivisions where, during the previous calendar year, the revenues from sales or the provision of services through the cash and control equipment exceeded the amount of 500 000 lei.
Previously, this obligation was held only by economic agents whose sales volume exceeded 2 million lei during the previous calendar year.
